Where Rivers Meet: From Theory to Practice - Making Connections
At this point, having gained some ability with Web 2.0 tools, combined with my burgeoning philosophy of educational technology, many exciting choices opened up. I was now ready to meander and explore the different aspects of technology, and make connections between theory and practice.
Reflective Practice for ESL Educators - Week 8 Journaling Synthesis
Under White Water Rafting, I presented the online, collaborative project titled: Reflective Practice for ESL Educators.
I now provide you with a quick tour of the course, focusing on topics 3 and 6, offering you a view of the segments as I originally designed them. Please pay particular attention to the way week 8: Journalling Synthesis - activity 1, 2, 3, are
designed, as this is the segment I modified in accordance with ETEC 530, requirements.

Overview of the course: Reflective Practice for ESL Educators
I had to critically examine the tenets of constructivism in order to reevaluate and redesign the journaling synthesis segment. In the modified version, the activities further reflect constructivist principles as they offer better scaffolding, and the integration of authentic materials. In the initial course design, activities were presented in a text-based format while in the revised version I redesigned the activities to make them more visually appealing to further motivate learners. I have added a PowerPoint presentation, a Prezi, and I have also added various ways for peers to communicate their reflection, providing participants with the opportunity to experience collaborative dialogue using blogs and VoiceThread. Activity 2 includes an assessment rubric that allows participants to evaluate constructivist elements within each module of the course. Because the designing of the course was a collaborative effort, I have left the original version intact, and instead provide samples of the modifications below.
